IMA World Health/ Emily Esworthy

This summer, IMA World Health officially launched our largest project to date – a five-year, $283 million program that will provide access to primary health care for eight million people in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

The project, titled Accès aux Soins de Santé Primaires (ASSP), or “Access to Primary Health Care,” is funded by the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development.

With IMA leading the effort, the ASSP project will operate across 10% of the DRC and will rebuild clinics, train health workers, supply essential medicines and equipment, and improve water and sanitation. This integrated effort will build on IMA’s current and past work in the region, helping to strengthen the Congolese health system to better provide basic health services and care for survivors of sexual violence.

IMA World Health has more than a decade of experience working with the Ministry of Health in the DRC and local NGOs to provide health services to people in post-conflict and heavily impoverished areas.
